Two-year green card

You asked what is a two year green card? When you bring a fiancée over to thevisa pro United States on a K-1 fiancée visa you have three months to get married and to file for her two-year residency card. When you get a fiancée visa it just does not end there you have to file for a two-year residency card.

If you fiancée comes here and do not get married in those three months she will have to return back to her country doesn’t matter if it’s the Philippines or what other country that is all the same. And if that person does not go back they are here illegally and can be deported.

If your fiancée/wife has brought children over to the United States with her it is very important to file their papers with her two-year green card at the same time as your fiancée/wife does. If child is over the age of 18 or is close to 21 years of age you must have these papers filed before the child is 21 or that child will have to return back to the country they are from.

To get your fiancée that should be your wife now a two-year residency card you’ll have to file these forms I will have a list of forms and documents you have to file

 G-325A Biographic Information

 I-864 Affidavit of Support

I-485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status

I-693 Medical Examination of Alien Seeking Adjustment of Status

As for medical you do not need to fill out, you will have to take your fiancé/ wife to a certified doctor that does medical examinations for the immigration. Your local family doctor cannot do these. And all clinics do not have a doctor that certified to do this you will have to contact USCIS customer service and information at1-800-375-5283 they can give you a list of doctors in your area. You can download these forms at USCIS.gov. and look for forms and you can download all these forms and take the I-693 form with you to medical examination. You must have to have this examination done before filing these papers.

With these forms you have to put other documents with them:

Certified copy of your marriage license

Three years tax returns

Copies of all pages on her passport

Copy of her birth certificate

Copy of her NSO

Copy of her I-94 this is a small white card is attached to her visa in her passport that immigration officer at the airport where she enters the country will sign do not send the original card of this with these documents. You will need that later.

Two passport pictures of your wife signed on the back with a black felt pin and her A# off her visa. This A# is located in the bottom left corner of her visa in her passport

If there is children came over here to the US with your fiancée/wife you must get their two-year residency card also. To do this you file the same forms at the same time with your wife’s. If you do not file this at the same time for the children you will have problems filing that later it will give you a lot of red tape. Regardless of the cost you must file at the same time for the children as you do for the mother.

The filing fee for all these documents for her two-year residency card is 1,070 dollars.

These are the forms that are required for her to stay in this country with you. There are other forms that you can submit with this if you think it is necessary but they each cost extra. I will have a list of the other forms that you can file and what they are for.

 I-131 Application for travel Document

When you file for your wife’s two-year residency card it will take eight months to one year before she will get this and the only documents that she will have to show that she is here legally is her passport. On her passport there will be a number in there that we call A# that is to track that person until they become a US citizen. So while you’re waiting for this card that person must carry their passport with them at all times. There will be other documents that you will get after applying that she must carry with her also.

If she has to leave the country when she is waiting for her two-year green card this document of travel will allow her to get back into the United States. You don’t have to have this document if you do not think that she will have to leave the United States to go back to her country for an emergency. Then you will not need this document. This document will cost you extra the price of this document is $360.

If you fiancé/wife would like to work before she gets her two-year green card and you will have to file this form.

I-765 Application for Employment Authorization

This also cost extra to file for the price of this $380.

I don’t recommend getting this because of the fact it will slow your wife’s two-year residency card/Green card for eight months. She will have to wait eight months longer to get this card so I don’t recommend getting. Unless you want her to work then you will have to have.

When you submit these papers and immigration receives them you will get a 797 notice whenever you get any of these notices you must keep them. When you file these papers make sure you put 797 notice that her visa has been proved to come to the United States in with these forms do not put the original always make a copy.

 Comments and questions are welcome
